Coronavirus Information for Referring Practices
Information for Referring Practices
Following the restrictions put in place by the government on 23rd March and the subsequent guidance issued by the RCVS regarding the current COVID-19 crisis, along with all other referral centres we have had to significantly modify our working practices. Our absolute aim is to continue to provide a service to all referring vets and to your clients throughout this difficult period.
We are now starting to see the cases on our waiting list and we will ensure that clients who’s treatment has been postponed will be seen as priority appointments. Clients who have been referred to us during this crisis but who cannot be seen immediately will also join the list and will be offered an appointment at the earliest opportunity. On this basis we would encourage colleagues to continue to refer elective patients as normal, as they will then have priority as soon as normal service can be resumed. We can also support their owners with telephone advice from the time of referral until they are able to be seen.
For patients requiring immediate care we have a protocol for the safety of the owner and our staff which ensures that social distancing requirements can be adhered to. Patients will be collected in the car park and clients are not entering the building.
We are very aware that now more than ever many clients may have financial restrictions and concerns, and we will continue to provide as economical and cost-effective a service as possible. We can also help owners with applications for low-cost finance to spread payments over 12 months if this would be helpful, although we don’t have influence over whether an application is accepted.
Like many businesses we are making these changes for the protection and well being of our staff and our clients. It also allows us to reduce our use of Personal Protective Equipment and oxygen supplies at this critical time for NHS. If you have any questions or if you’d like to discuss a case please contact us by email (email@example.com) or telephone (0117 967 7067) any time. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time and we will endeavour to provide support with orthopaedic cases in any way that we can.
